Now 48, country star Luke Bryan wants to be known for more than just party anthems, a goal reflected in his eighth studio album Mind of a Country Boy.
Released September 27, the album features personal songs about marriage and family. They include “For the Kids” and “Pair of Boots,” a song about fatherhood inspired by Bryan’s teenaged sons Bo and Tate. “I think it reflects where I’m at in life. I’ve had the party songs throughout my life and when I look at my career, I’ve put out the music I’ve always wanted to and this is the music I want out now,” Bryan told Billboard.
Bryan said he recorded 18 songs for the project before ultimately settling on the final 14-track listing. A number of Nashville’s top songwriters contributed to the album, including Rhett Akins, Chase McGill, and Hillary Lindsey.
