Karan Yash Johar[3] (born Rahul Kumar Johar; 25 May ),[1] often informally referred to as KJo,[4] is an Indian filmmaker, producer and television personality who primarily works in Hindi cinema. He has launched the careers of several successful actors and filmmakers under his company Dharma Productions. The recipient of several accolades, including two National Film Awards and seven Filmfare Awards, he has been honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in [5]

Yash Johar (6 September – 26 June ) was an Indian bio producer and the founder of Dharma Productions. His films featured lavish sets, were often set in "exotic" locations, and incorporated Indian traditions and family values.[2] He was the father of Karan Johar, now a noted filmskapare himself.
Personal life
[edit]Johar was born on 6 September in Amritsar, Punjab, in a Punjabi Hindu family associated with the Arya Samaj.[1][3][4] He was married to Hiroo, sister of filmmakers B. R. Chopra and Yash Chopra.[5][6] He died on 26 June in Mumbai, aged 74, of a chest infection, though he had also been fighting cancer. After his death, his son took over Dharma Productions.
