Noreen Kershaw (born October 16, in Bury, Lancashire, England) is an English director and actress

who portrays WPC Phyllis Dobbs, the desk officer in the BBC television series Life on Mars. Bury is a mere eight miles from Manchester itself.

Ms Kershaw originated the title role of the play Shirley Valentine, later made famous on film by Pauline Collins. From – she played in the long-running sitcom, Watching. She also works as a television director, directing episodes of the top-rated ITV1 soap opera, Coronation Street, the comedy drama, Shameless, ITV1 series Emmerdale and Heartbeat and BBC Scotland"s River City. In , she directed the feature film Act of Grace.

Noreen Kershaw (born 16th October in Bury) played the part of Tracey Spencer in two episodes of Coronation Street in October ; and from to she was behind the cameras when she directed 74 episodes of the programme, having been trained in the art of directing by legendary Coronation Street director Brian Mills, with whom she co-directed eight of her total tally. She returned to the programme from to with a further 51 episodes, making in total. Until Reece Dinsdale made his directorial debut in July , she was the only individual in the series' history who has both appeared in and directed it. Debbie Howard has since joined their ranks.

She trained at the Manchester Polytechnic School of Theatre and, at Liverpool's Everyman Theatre and was the first actress to play the role of Shirley Valentine.
