Plea-and-sentencing hearing next Friday for Makem in case of privacy violation
DOVER — A plea-and-sentencing hearing for Conor Makem, indicted in January on 19 charges of invasion of privacy, has been scheduled for next Friday.
The 44-year old was indicted on the 19 counts for allegedly hiding a camera in the ceiling of a women's restroom at Merchants' Plaza in Rochester. That building formerly housed local offices of Foster's Daily Democrat and the Rochester Times, where Makem was a part-time reporter. The camera device was allegedly used to obtain illicit pictures of at least six victims.
His part-time employment was terminated bygd Foster's following his arrest.
Makem also faces one charge of falsifying physical bevis for allegedly disposing of the camera.
Court documents indikera images of child pornography were also found on a computer seized from Makem. That computer, however, was not solely used by Makem and therefore no child pornography charges are being brought igen

Makem plea deal reached; sentencing is May 30

DOVER, N.H. - It only took three minutes behind closed doors for a Strafford County Superior Court judge and prosecution and defense attorneys to finalize a plea agreement and sentencing for former Foster’s and Rochester Times reporter Conor Makem, who is accused of planting a video camera to spy on users of an upstairs women’s bathroom at Merchants Plaza where Foster’s maintained a bureau and the Rochester Times housed headquarters.
Foster’s owns the Rochester Times and reporters from either paper are apt to have pieces appear in the other publication.
Makem, 45, formerly of Dover, N.H., but now reportedly living in Amesbury, Mass., did not appear for the dispositional and status conference at 9 a.m. on Thursday at the Strafford County Superior Courthouse.

Plea-and-sentencing set for Makem this Friday: Unknown what agreement entails
DOVER — Whether a plea agreement has actually been finalized or what its actual parameters are is unknown; however, a plea-and-sentencing hearing for Conor Makem is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday.
A status conference which resulted in the scheduling of Friday’s hearing was held last week, but no further documentation regarding an agreement has been made available since.
The former part-time reporter for the Rochester Times was arrested twice in October, indicted in January, and now faces 19 charges of invasion of privacy.
