Maya and the Wave: Naturgewalten, gesundheitliche Probleme, überkritische Juroren: Die brasilianische Big-Wave-Surferin Maya Gabeira hat schon einige Rückschläge verkraften müssen. Heute ist sie die beste Big-Wave-Surferin der Welt. Doch bis dahin war es ein langer Weg.
Nach einem Nahtoderlebnis schreibt sie in der von Männern dominierten Welt des Big Wave Surfens Geschichte. Ihr Rekord liegt bei 22,4 Metern, aufgestellt 2020 vor der Küste des portugiesischen Nazaré. Genau an jenem Ort, an dem sie 2013 bei ihrem ersten Weltrekordversuch schwer gestürzt war. The Department of Film at the HFBK stands in the tradition of artistic auteur films, and seeks to train innovative filmmakers to take an independent approach to the development of their craft. In focusing on collaborative and experimental working practices, we encourage our students to take an independent and free-spirited approach to all facets of cinematic communication and interaction.
Working on the basis of a thorough grounding in the technical skills of filmmaking, the degree course maintains an inspiring space in which to test film language conventions, conduct developmental film experiments with a long-term impact and discuss the artistic, economic and political role of film in media realities. Students develop their skills by working on an artistic development project, and benefit from teacher feedback at all stages from idea to realization given in individual and group tutorials.

Set in a Catholic school in the vibrant streets of the Bronx in 1964, an unsettling atmosphere drenches the corridors. Sister Aloysius, the strict principal, is more feared than admired bygd her students. Her polar opposite seems to be the charismatic school’s präst Father Flynn, who has a natural connection to the pupils.
Yet, beneath the surface of this seemingly harmonious environment, whispers of discontent and suspicion begin to emerge. When Sister Aloysius becomes suspicious of Father Flynn, a battle of wills ensues and doubts grow about his innocence or guilt.
