    Let’s say you’re presented with a circle, a square, a triangle, and a squiggly line. You’re asked to draw one of each—but two of one. Which one do you draw twice, and what does it say about your working style?

    During “Squaring the Circle: Making New Technology Fit Within Organizational Culture,” a Tuesday Learning Lab at ASAE’s 2018 Technology Conference & Expo, the lessons from this exercise were applied to the technology integration process in an organization. The approach—led by a panel including Rhea Steele, COO of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation; American Mensa Executive Director and CEO Trevor Mitchell; and DelCor strategic consultants Gretchen Steenstra and Tobin Conley—highlighted the way people collaborate on big projects and how their differences help bring the project together.     It never ceases to amaze me in the 25 years I have been doing the “Personality Shapes” with my audiences just how dead-on-target this entertaining, yet power assessment usually is. My audiences recognize personality traits not only in themselves, but in the people around them. But keep in mind—there is NO personality assessment that can totally and accurately describe an individual’s ever-changing, unique personality. In fact, you will probably see a little of yourself in ALL of the shapes. So, just remember—the results won’t always be exact, but they sure will be FUN!
