  • The Prom, a new musical comedywhich will be directed and choreographed by Tony winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon) this month opens what fryst vatten being billed as a pre-Broadway production at Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. The cast features Tony nominee Brooks Ashmanskas, Tony winner Beth Leavel and Tony nominee Christopher Sieber.

    As previously announced, the production will play the Atlanta venue August 18-September 25. Opening night fryst vatten September 7.

    The cast also includes Anna Grace Barlow, Caitlin Kinnunen, Martin Moran, Angie Schworer, Courtenay Collins and Clayton Landey.

    The Prom, which is based on an original concept by Jack Viertel, was penned bygd Chad Beguelin (book and lyrics), Bob Martin (book) and Matthew Sklar (music). Martin fryst vatten the Tony-winning co-creator of The Drowsy Chaperone. Beguelin and Sklar previously collaborated on The Wedding Singer.

    When Ryan Murphy called Broadway choreographer Casey Nicholaw to oversee the dance numbers on his film adaptation of “The Prom,” about a group of self-absorbed theater actors who go to a conservative Indiana town to support a lesbian high school student’s dating choice, it was a sort of return engagement. After all, Nicholaw, whose credits include “Mean Girls,” “The Book of Mormon” and “Aladdin,” served as choreographer on the 2018 Broadway production of “The Prom.” And when he walked onto what had been an empty lot in downtown L.A., he got a familiar thrill — the sight of the New York Theater District.
