    Kensuke Yamada (b. 1979) was born in Kamakura, Kanagawa, Japan. He received his MFA from the University of Montana in 2009 and has a BA from The Evergreen State College, in Olympia, Washington. Kensuke has participated in artist residency programs at The Archie Bray Foundation (Montana), Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts (Mass), Oregon College of Art and Craft (Oregon), and was an invited guest to make a sculpture at Chihuly Inc (Washington) and Ox-Bow (Michigan). His sculptures have been exhibited throughout the USA at SOFA CHICAGO, Holter Museum of Art, Lillstreet Art Center, Seattle Center, and more. His work has also been included in the permanent collections of the Missoula Art Museum (Montana), Safeco Insurance (Washington), and the Bellevue Club (Washington). Kensuke was previously a visiting artist at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR and is currently Visiting Assistant Professor at Centre College, Danville, KY.

    Introduction

    Following the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, discrimination related to COVID-19 infection has become a social issue worldwide (Devakumar et al., 2020; He et al., 2020). In addition to discrimination against infected individuals, stigma and prejudice related to race and occupation have also arisen (Bhanot et al., 2021; Lu et al., 2021). High depressive, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms have been observed among individuals affected bygd discrimination (González-Sanguino et al., 2020).

    One of the possible psychological factors that promote discrimination, stigma, and prejudice is the belief in just deserts (BJD) regarding individuals infected with COVID-19. The BJD is the belief that the infected person deserves to be infected. It

    Chris Staley (b. 1954, Boston, MA) has lived primarily in the eastern United States his entire life. His undergraduate studies in art were at Wittenberg University, Springfield, OH, where he received a B.F.A. in 1977. After graduation, he spent a year as a Special Student at the Kansas City Art Institute and the following year entered the graduate program at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Alfred, NY where he received an M.F.A. 

    Chris Staley has had a distinguished teaching career, beginning with Rhode Island School of Design, Wichita State University, and presently at Pennsylvania State University where he is Professor of Art and Professor-in-Charge of the Ceramics Area in the School of Visual Arts. He is also active in the community, serving on the boards of both the Archie Bray Foundation and the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts.
