Ex-cricketer freed after kidnap

HYDERABAD: Former cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar pal and alleged deal-maker V Chamundeswaranath was abducted by a four-man gang on Tuesday and set free two hours later. Later in the evening, police paraded arrested four persons, one of them a relative of the 'abducted' player, for the kidnapping. According to eye-witness Koteshwara Rao, a friend of Chamundi (as the cricketer is known to many), the cricketer parked his Mercedes near the KBR Park at around 0530 IST when a group of men pounced on him and dragged him into a Maruti van and sped away.Rao ran to the Jubilee Hills police station to alert the police. Curiously, the abductors allowed the ex-cricketer to use his mobile phone during the two-hour drama. He was allowed to speak to ACP K Muralidhar Rao.
